Who said that computing had no soul?

Steve Jobs, CEO at apple gave a speech at Stanford recently and I thought it was interesting to see the "softer" side being published. Here's an excerpt from an article in The Age (The other side of the dream, By Garry Barker June 23, 2005).

Jobs told three stories about his life he called "joining the dots".

"You have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future," he said. "You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down and it has made all the difference in my life.

"You have to find what you love. The only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work.

"Your time is limited. Don't waste it living someone else's life. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. Stay hungry, stay foolish."

The full transcript of Jobs' speech is on Stanford's website.

It is worth reading, not only because it is revealing of Jobs but also because it shows why Silicon Valley is so important to us all.
