Finally ... gardening success!

I don't like plants. It's nothing specific, just that I am not good at keeping them alive. But recently I discovered that aloe vera is easily maintained and kept happy. I now have 5 aloe vera plants, one curtesy of Cameron's grandmother, and the others thanks to Brent and Anne-Maree's very prodigious off-shoot.

Recently, one of the plants grew a mushroom like thing that I am assuming is a flower. Is this correct? Does anyone know? Or can I expect my aloe vera to be killed violently, Aliens-style, because of something eating it from the inside out??
